
Freshwater Pearl
A cultured pearl produced by mollusks that are cultivated in freshwater.
Freshwater and saltwater mollusks differ in that freshwater pearls
can produce several pearls at once, and the pearls do not need
to be initiated with an irritant.

Gemstones measure of weight . Not to be confused with "karat",
which is a measure of gold . One carat is equal to 20% of a gram .
Gemstones are measured as points - 100 points per carat.
For example, a 0.50 ct. stone it is said to have twenty fifty points.
